Learn the board

Make every Rule34dle round easier to read

Start by treating the shown total as a range marker, not a number to memorize. Then decide whether the hidden tag is broader, more recognizable, or likely to sit below that marker.

  1. 1
    Read the two cards

One card shows its post count while the other hides it. Notice whether each card is an individual character or a broad franchise tag.

  2. 2
    Choose the higher side

Click or tap the card you believe has more posts. On supported boards, the number keys are a quick alternative for making a choice.

  3. 3
    Use the reveal

After the result, remember the size of the gap. The reveal is useful calibration for later matchups, even after a wrong guess.

  4. 4
    Pick the right mode

Use Standard for a relaxed streak, Daily for the shared ten-round board, and Hard when you want close comparisons with less information.

Better guess habits

Three checks before you commit

A few small observations are more reliable than a vague feeling about a character.

01

Check tag scope

A franchise tag can cover far more material than one character. Do not compare them as if they represent the same-sized audience.

Character or franchise?
02

Anchor on the shown total

Turn the visible count into a rough tier: low, middle, high, or huge. Then ask whether the hidden tag belongs above or below it.

Use the number as a range marker.
03

Keep settings in mind

Franchise mixing and AI filtering can change the pool or count you are judging. Build your intuition for the board you actually selected.

Match your strategy to your settings.

Player FAQ

Rule34dle questions, answered

Quick answers for the choices that most often interrupt a streak or a Daily Challenge.

What is Rule34dle?

It is a browser higher-or-lower game. You compare two character or franchise tags and pick the one you think has the higher post count.

How do I win a round?

Choose the card with the higher count. The game reveals the hidden number after your pick, so you can learn from the matchup either way.

What is the Daily Challenge?

Daily mode gives everyone the same ten matchups for the current UTC date. Your result can be compared with other players on the daily board.

Does a wrong answer end the game?

A miss ends or resets the current run depending on the selected mode. Use the result screen to see the two totals before starting again.

What is Hard mode?

Hard mode is designed for closer calls. It can present three choices while hiding all totals, so broad popularity assumptions matter less.

Why do franchise tags matter?

A franchise tag can represent a large collection rather than one person or character. Turning franchise tags on or off changes the kind of comparison you see.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. Use the same card choices on a mobile browser. If a board feels cramped or does not respond, check the mobile help guide.

Are counts and answers permanent?

No. Counts can change and the Daily board refreshes. Treat a current in-game reveal as the best reference for a live matchup.
